On Sunday a Japanese whaling ship and anti whaling protest boat collided in the icy seas off Antarctica and no one was injured but the both ships were received minor damage in collision.
On Monday both were blaming on each other for crash.
According to the Peter Hammarstedt (Captain of the Bob Barker), Japan’s Yushin Maru no. 3 struck Sea Shepherd’s Bob Barker when I crossed too closely in front of the protest ship, damaging its bow and anchor.
Hammarstedt said, it was an unprovoked attack and they did so ruthlessly.
Japan’s Fisheries Agency said in statements, our research whaling is a legitimate activity allowed under the international treaty. Sea Shepherd’s violent sabotage against, which is threatening the lives of the Japanese crewmembers and causing damage to our ships and equipment, cannot be tolerated.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Youhihide Suga (Japan’s top government spokesman) said that, Japan has urged the Netherlands, where the activists’ ships are registered, to take ‘effective’ measures to prevent a recurrence.
