The younger daughter of Spain’s King Juan Carlos, Princess Cristina testified Saturday in a corruption case that has deepened anger against the royal family.
It was first time that a Spanish royal has been summoned in a criminal proceeding since the monarchy was restored in 1975 following the death of Dictator Francisco Franco.
A Spanish judge (Jose Castro) on Saturday questioned Princess Cristina on whether she illegally used funds from a company she owned with her husband (Inaki Urdangarin) for personal expenses.
Castro is investigating her and her husband for alleged money laundering and using company funds to pay for household expenses, including lavish parties at their Barcelona mansion.
