Yaoundé: Cameroon’s government announced the closure of air, sea and land borders with Nigeria (country) in order to help contain the spread of the Ebola virus.
According to the Issa Tchiroma Bakary (Cameroon’s communications minister), “All borders (land, sea and air) between Nigeria and Cameroon are closed. Our thinking is that it is better to act preventively rather than have to heal”.
While Cameroon (country) has not had any registered cases of Ebola (virus) yet and more that, Cameroon shares a nearly 2,000-kilometre-long border with Nigeria.
According to the country’s Health Ministry, “Nigeria confirmed twelve cases of the Ebola virus, 4 people have died from the illness and 5 others almost fully recovered from the Ebola (virus).”
