Manama: United Nation has called for Bahrain (country) to release a well-known jailed human rights activist.
Ravina Shamdasani (spokeswoman for the UN High Commissioner of Human Rights) said in a statement,
“continuing violations of the rights to freedom of expression, peaceful assembly and association, and the targeting of human rights activists in Bahrain remain of serious concern”.
Ravina Shamdasani also added, we urge the government of the Bahrain to take immediate steps to release Ms. Khawaja (human rights activist) and all human rights defenders.
Remember that, Maryam Al-Khawaja (human rights activist) was arrested shortly after arriving in Bahrain (country) to check on her father, who had been hunger-striking in prison along with thousands of sentenced activists.
