Shonali Bose direction ‘Margarita, with a Straw’ won NETPAC award in 39th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) Continued till Sunday awarded from Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) as most innovative and comprehensive film.


This year ‘Margarita, with a Straw’ is single award winning movie at TIFF starring Kalki Koechlin, Kalki has role of a girl with Cerebral palsy story tell about her effort and survive against disability.


Maniyar told, we are now in a competing environment and this film is a challenge for other to stay alive at cinema screens. Her co-writer Bose revealed, film was private project and whole story of character Laila based on personal experiences.


TIFF official and programmer for South Asian films Cameron Bailey said, it is believed as most independent film in recent years, hoping that film is loved by thousands of Indians as myself.


Bose excited about film’s terrific world premiere at TIFF and grateful to Cameron Bailey and Jury of NETPAC for appreciation and choosing Margarita for award as it was nothing just rough cut.
