The largest Christmas tree in the world was turned on Saturday night in the pretty medieval town of Gubbio, 230 km north of Rome (Italy).

The tree, topped with a shooting star, is born from the initiative of volunteers in 1981. With a height of 750 meters and a width of 450 meters, it is registered, ten years after its creation, the Guinness Book of Records.

The tree is actually made of bulbs. Some 1,000 points of light of different colors (connected by 8,500 meters of electrical cables) give shape to the conifer hill overlooking the village.
