Santiago: A 6.1-magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale hit Easter Island region (Island in Chile) at 06:53:13 GMT on Saturday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) earthquake struck 10 kilometers below the surface, with the epicenter located 502 kilometers from the Hanga Roa area (Town in Chile), the only residential sector on the inconic island.
Chilean authorities said that No damage or tsunami threat has been reported.
Remember that, in 2010, 8.8-magnitude earthquake shakes Chile, causing significant damage across the country’s with buildings and bridges collapsing and dozens dead from the tsunami and earthquake.
