Baghdad: United Nation refugee agency is poised to mount an aid operation for 500,000 Iraqis driven from their homes by jihadist rebels.
Adrian Edwards (UNHCR spokesman) said that, “In reaction to the weakening situation in northern Iraq, UNHCR is this week induction one of its largest aid pushes aimed at helping close to half a million people.
An air, road and sea operation will begin tomorrow, starting with a four-day airlift using Boeing 747s from Aqaba in Jordan (country) to Arbil.”
According to information, it will be followed by road convoys from Turkey (Country) and Jordan (country) and land & sea shipments from Dubai (City in United Arab Emirates) via Iran (Country) more than the next ten days.
