Activists said, “Syrian rebels took control Wednesday of a hospital used as a headquarters by an Al Qaeda affiliate in the northern city of Aleppo, part of a vast campaign against the extremist group in the countries opposition-held north”.
The arrest of the hospital underscores the intensity of the rebel infighting that has raged for days between alliance of Syrian rebel groups and their one-time allies, fighters from the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant.
Last a few days have seen fierce fighting between ISIS and other rebel groups. More than 270 people, including 46 civilians, have been killed in the worst rebel-on-rebel violence incidents since the Syria uprising began in March 2011, according to the Syrian Observatory, a UK-based activist group.
The recent clashes started on Friday when rebels led by the Islamic Front, a relatively new unity of Islamist groups, launched what appeared to a series of co-ordinate strikes against ISIS in northern and eastern Syria. The offensive was supported by the National unity.
