Libyan capital Tripoli, one of the warm clash zones in the Middle East region, is seeing a ceasefire happen between two powerful militant groups, which have been battling for control of its airport.

The news appears after Foreign Minister Mohamed Abdelaziz appealed to the UN Security Council to give experts in order to train the country’s security and defense forces for the reason of protecting strategic objects, oil fields and airports, international news reports.

The fights between opponent gangs have been on the rise in Libya in the last months, prompting fears of a full-scale civil war.

The ceasefire has been agreed in concert with the capital’s mayor, and a verdict was made to hand over the airport to neutral forces.
