Eight-day London Tube Strike Starts

Eight-day-London-Tube-Strike-Starts

The power control staff on the London Underground will start an eight-day strike Tuesday. Talks to avert management-proposed cuts in pensions and worsened working conditions have been thus far failed.

The industrial action starts at 8pm local time and ends July 9.

Mick Cash, acting general secretary of the radical Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union, “These staff are effectively the national grid for London Underground.

This action will have the most severe consequences for Tube operations but has been forced on us by management wrecking the earlier talks.”
