“At the same time, we are prepared to begin negotiations for a final resolution as of tomorrow.”

Crowds gathered at Mehrabad airport on Sunday evening, to welcome Zarif as a hero and holding flags and flowers. “No war, no sanctions, no insults and no submission,” they chanted.

Crowed was holding posters of President Hassan Rouhani, the architect of Iran’s initiative in striking a nuclear deal.

“A Europe-wide decision is necessary” to ease EU sanctions on Iran, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius told Europe 1 radio. “That’s expected in several weeks, for a partial lifting that is targeted, reversible.”
