Seventy countries move to winter time

The time is not an objective concept, nor frankly universal. And as every six months, the world is facing an upheaval of the time zones. Seventy countries will change their hours between Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 October. Seventy, so not all.

The winter and summer hours are put not everyone agrees. A priori, the purpose of the time change is to adapt the activity time to daylight time, to economies of energy.

But the United States, for example, decided to change the time a month after France as a matter of economics with a capital “E”. Specifically to support the business of candy. Change time after Halloween allows kids to go door-to-door longer to recover more candy, to the delight of confectioners.

For its part, Russia has renounced watches adapt to periods of sunshine. In 2011, the then President Dmitry Medvedev announced: time change poses risks to public health. A question of biological rhythms, according to experts.

A generally accepted notion in France where we also often talks about the difficulties of jetlag for schoolchildren. And if one believes road safety, one of the consequences of the time change would also mortality on roads.

So, let’s set our watches, with caution.
