Bogota: head of Colombian drug kingpin Pablo Escobar’s hit men who nicknamed is Popeye was released from prison.
John Jairo Velasquez, better known by his nickname “Popeye,” was released in the evening. He had spent 22-years behind bars for plotting the murder of a former presidential candidate.
According to police and judicial sources, hit man walked free from the Combita (Town in Colombia) high-security prison in central Colombia after completing 22-years of his 30-year sentence for murder.
