Tokyo: Japan could offer an unapproved medicine under assured conditions to help treat the deadly Ebola (virus).


According to the Yoshihide Suga (Chief Cabinet Secretary), “Medical professionals could make a request for T-705 in an emergency even before a decision by the World Health Organization (WHO)”.


Company spokesman (Takao Aoki) said that, the medicine is developed by Fujifilm (subsidiary Toyama Chemical Co.) under the brand name Avigan to treat new and re-emerging influenza viruses.


In March medicine was approved by Japan’s health ministry. Fujifilm (subsidiary Toyama Chemical Co.) is in consultation with United States Food and Drug Administration on clinical testing of the drug in treating Ebola.


Remember that, at least 1470 people were died in result of Ebola virus, the World Health Organization.
