Tokyo: one person dead and more than 50 were injured, because a tropical storm was moving out into the Sea of Japan today after lashing the country with winds and rain.
According to the report, Japanese airlines had to cancels more than 232 internal flights in connection with the raging Typhoon Halong, bringing the number of canceled flights to more than 700.
Authorities issue evacuation warnings to 1.6 million people. Japan’s Meteorological Agency issued the highest alert for heavy rain in Mie prefecture in central Japan, prompting 2 towns to order about 570,000 residents to move away from swollen rivers.
The meteorological agency also warned of floods, landslides, predicted heavy rain and strong wind in northern Japan and Tokyo through Monday.
The rainstorm flooded some 330 homes and damaged 70 others in western Japan.
