Managua: Nicaraguan Institute of Territorial Studies (INET) said Nicaragua (Country), with a population of six million people, is now confronting the worst drought the country has experienced in the last 3 decades.

Nicaraguan Institute of Territorial Studies (INET) projections indicate the drought, related to the El Nino weather phenomenon, will continue during September and October.

According to the Edward Centeno (Minister of Agriculture), the lack of rain could wipe out 1.1 billion bushels of corn, 100,000 bushels of peanuts and just more than one million tons of rice during the agricultural cycle from 2014-2015.
