Pope Francis takes a trip to South Korea on Wednesday on his first visit as pope to Asia, where the Catholic Church is undergoing dramatic enlargement.
The seven-day trip is also intended at making up for his predecessor Benedict XVI never visiting Asia throughout his eight-year papacy, international media reported.
The large number of Catholics in Asia, even though only 3.2 percent of the population, is rocketing, Vatican-watchers state.
