Istanbul: first time in Turkey, direct president election occurred and with respect of non-governmental, final results, Recep Tayyip Erdogan has elected Turkey’s new president.
Turkey’s election board reported, new Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has named the great victory in first direct presidential election in the first round following taking over 50 percent of the vote.
High Election Board chairman Sadi Guven stated in a news conference in the capital Ankara, “The provisional results show that Erdogan has the majority of the valid votes. We have received more than 99 percent. Tomorrow we will announce the provisional results.”
Erdogan announced win during addressing his supporters from his party’s headquarters in Ankara, “Today national will and democracy have prevailed again… Today, greater Turkey has prevailed again… With the president being elected by popular vote, obstacles between Cankaya and the public have been lifted.”
In this Turkey’s presidential election, the prime minster had collected 52 percent of the votes, Ihsanoglu received 38 percent and the third candidate Selahattin Demirtas acquired 10 percent as 99 percent of the votes had been counted.
