The Russian Investigative Committee (SKR) has opened a criminal case into the alleged abducting of Russian photographer Andrey Stenin, who has been missing for over a week after reportedly being taken into custody in eastern Ukraine.

Stenin is a war photo-correspondent and worker of major news agency Rossiya Segodnya. Russian investigators also asked their Ukrainian colleagues for help, spokesman Vladimir Markin announced this news.

He further said that investigators are checking a theory of Ukrainian National Guard combatants or other law enforcement agencies’ involvement in the abducting. Stenin has been in Ukraine since May 13 and lost since August 5.
