Riyadh: Saudi court has sentenced 5 people 39-year jail and also 8,000 flogging for celebrating Valentine’s Day.
The Saudi religious police disallow their citizens to sale and purchase of red roses and other products which are used for celebrating Valentine’s Day. With respect of ban, the Buraidah criminal court sentences 32-year jail and 4,500 flogging to five citizens caught celebrating Valentine’s Day in the company of six women, on May 2014.
When religious police raided where they were celebrating, found red roses, red hearts and all other products which were in this party.
Saudi priest Sheikh Muhammad Al-’Arifi stated on Valentine’s Day Eve that celebrating this holiday constitutes bid’a – a prohibited modernism and infringement from religious law and tradition and imitation of the West.
On the other hand, these five criminals had challenged Saudi criminal court and filed their case in Appellate court but they maintained criminal court case and agreed with this punishment.
