Canadian couple is under investigation by Chinese security forces for stealing state secrets, as well as military and national defense research, the official told to news Chinese news reporters on Tuesday.


The pair, Kevin Garratt and Julia Dawn Garratt, was in accuse of a coffee shop on the Chinese border with North Korea. The duo have been living in China since 1984 and unlocked Peter’s Coffee House in Dandong in 2008, Chinese media reported.


The probe, carried out by State Security Bureau of Dandong city in northeast Liaoning Province, appears after Canada labeled China as being behind the cyber attack on the Canadian National Research Council.
