Blasts have struck four subway stations in Cairo, injuring two people and causing extensive panic among morning commuters.

The explosions happened early on Wednesday morning in stations in central and northern Cairo and were caused by homemade explosive devices, according to officials.

No one instantly claimed responsibility for the first attacks in the Egyptian capital since last month’s election of Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi as the country’s new president.
