Rome: The international sources reported that Italian navy and their coastguard found almost 30 dead bodies in a migrant boat found between Sicily and the North African coast on Monday.
The fishing boat was carrying some 590 refugees and migrants. The rescue team had boarded the boat to empty those in most distress, including two pregnant women.
The international news told that the people who victimized had seemingly died of Asphyxia. It is not the first time Italian rescuers have found out that migrants had died on overcrowded boats.
The fishing boat is being towed by the Italian navy and is anticipated to arrive later on Monday in Pozzallo on the southeast coast of Sicily.
More than past weekend over 1,600 migrants were rescued by Italian authorities, getting the total figure of migrants so far this year to over 60,000.
The figure is anticipated to soar past the record 63,000 set in 2011 in the Arab Spring uprisings.
