A Sudanese Christian woman who was cleared by a court of apostasy has now been accused with counterfeiting after attempting to leave the country, lawyer, Mohanad Mustafa said.

26 year old Meriam Yahia Ibrahim Ishag was prevented from leaving Sudan on Tuesday. The incident occurred in the presence of US diplomats who were escorting her and her family, according to her American husband Daniel Wani.

He insisted there was nothing wrong with the travel documents. “We want to get out of here as soon as possible,” Wani said, citing death warnings against his wife.
