A state-owned gas pipeline detonated on early Friday in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, in this case almost 14 people killed.


At least 15 people were wounded in the fire following the blast in the village of Nagaram in the state’s East Godavari district.


The explosion sparked a massive fire that forced the migration of neighboring villages. Rescue operations started after the fire was extinguished. It was not instantly clear what could have caused the explosion.


Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, finance minister for the southern state of Andhra Pradesh, where the plant is situated, “The situation is very bad … 14 people were burnt alive and 20 have been admitted to hospital with injuries,”.
