Iraq military have claimed to take back the city of Tikrit from Sunni rebels who seized almost two weeks ago after capturing Iraq’s second city of Mosul.


Baghdad: According to international sources, the Iraq army had claimed that the will take captured city Tikrit back which the Iraq and Syria militants organization seized at least two weeks ago after capturing Mosul city and they also claimed that they had killed over 60 militant’s group fighters.


The army spokesman told that helicopter gunships and Special Forces snipers, backed by thousands of soldiers, have leaded the attack against Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) rebels.


The increments have been airdropped into the north of the city and thousands more are said to be on their way, tanks for back up and bomb disposal units. An army spokesman said United States advisers are studying targets for possible air-raids.


The security officials told to reporters, Helicopter gunships fired at targets in Tikrit on Saturday and ISIS fighters dumped Tikrit’s governorate building.


The army spokesman Qassim Atta told that 29 ‘terrorists’ were killed on Friday in Tikrit and that militant commanders were moving violently because ‘their morale has started to collapse’.
