Iran: 3 U.S citizens were detained in Iran including one journalists of Washington Post. According to the Committee to Protect Journalists (international media rights organization), “Tehran correspondent Jason Rezaian, a U.S. citizen, and his wife, Yeganeh Salehi, appeared to have been detained Tuesday evening”.
According to Washington post, “Concern is growing for the well-being of four journalists, three of them American citizens, apparently detained in Iran this week”.
An Iranian official confirmed that, Jason Rezaian and Yeganeh Salehi are among three journalists being held by authorities. He did not say what they have been charged with.
According to the Gholam-Hossein Esmaili (Director General of the Tehran Province Justice Department), “Washington Post journalist has been detained for some questions and after technical investigations, the judiciary will provide details on the issue”.
Committee to Protect Journalists (international media rights organization) has urged Iran that Iran should be informed about the reasons for arrest and release them immediately.
