Taliban rebels stopped minibuses in western Afghanistan and killed 14 Shiite passengers by the side of the road, international media reported, Afghan official disclosed.


Sayed Anwar Rahmati, the governor of the western Ghor province, says the Taliban halted three minibuses traveling from Kabul overnight on Friday.


The buses were carrying approximately 30 passengers. After questioning the passengers, the Islamic militants recognized 14 people, including three women, as Hazara Shiites.


The passengers had moved to Kabul to shop for the forthcoming holiday marking the closing stages of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
