Two people have been killed in Egypt as clashes flared up when supporters of threw out president Morsi rallied after weekly Muslim prayers.


The two were victimized by birdshot in the northern Cairo district of Matariya, senior health official Mohamed Soltan told to international reporters.


Three others were injured in the fights. Since Morsi’s ousting by the army in July last year, the government, led by ex-army chief Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, has cracked down on his remaining supporters.


Over 1,400 people have died and more 200 have been sentenced to death in mass trials.
